Super Crate Box is a platform action game that refers to the golden age of arcade machines. The production was developed and published by the independent Dutch company Vlambeer.
MechanicsIn the Super Crate Box we observe the action from the side. The game takes place on one screen levels, and is based on the elimination of hordes of enemies. During the game we make use of a wide range of firearms, including rocket and disc launchers, guns and flamethrowers. In order to be successful, we must be in constant motion and jump on platforms, avoiding direct contact with adversaries. Among the latter we can find both ranked enemies occurring in wholesale quantities, as well as bosses more powerful than them. As we progress, we unlock not only new murder tools, but also characters we can play. Game modesSuper Crate Box allows you to play alone; the version for Nintendo Switch console has been enriched with a local multiplayer mode for two players.
Super Crate Box is a hectic shooter set in a single screen area filled with an endless amount of enemies. They spawn near the top and then run down to disappear in a fire at the bottom or are killed by the player. When the player does not manage to kill them, they return enraged, with a different colour, and a much faster speed. The main goal of the game is to collect crates that spawn in. Super Crate Box is a freeware PC & Mac arcade game created by Vlambeer in 2010. In it, you play as a Waddling Head who has to fight a army of monsters that come from the top of the screen. However, you don't get any points by killing them.
Technical issuesSuper Crate Box has a simple, two-dimensional graphics made in pixel art technique. The retro style is complemented by a fast, chiptune soundtrack.
